What is somatic therapy?Â
Somatic therapy treats mental and emotional health concerns — including anxiety, trauma, and PTSD — through the connection of body and mind. Rather than working top-down through the mind, somatic therapy works the other way around: starting with the body, where stress and trauma actually live.
Unlike Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which focuses primarily on thoughts and behaviours, somatic sessions draw on body-based practices including breathwork, movement, and guided relaxation — alongside talk therapy — to support healing at a deeper level.
Together, we follow the body's own cues to where tension, fear, and emotion need to be released. Over time, we find safety in places that once felt constricting.
